From the moment of birth, every human being brings a certain dimension of \"Ki\" into the world. It is said that children often retain the power of Reiki until they are about three years old, because their \"energy channels\" are still open. This is why they perceive the world differently and, compared to adults, they sometimes have much more energy. But with time, depending on the environment, the society and the beliefs of the adults around them, the \"energy channels\" become more or less closed because children learn to adapt to their environment and believe what they are told by adults who are trusted or authoritative. During a Reiki seminar certain \"energy channels\" will be opened through four \"initiations\". <strong>In this way we get the ability to receive and give energy<\/strong>. It flows through us and we can transfer it by laying hands on ourselves or someone else (also on plants and animals).<\/p><h4>How Reiki works<\/h4><p>Reiki is characterised by a relaxing touch on various parts of the recipient's body, or just above it, to encourage a transfer of energy from the practitioner's palms to the recipient. The result is a vibrational experience and an energetic input that covers and soothes the receiver. <strong>This helps in the management of certain problems resulting from trauma or stress that disrupts the energy structure<\/strong>.<\/p><p>The initiations take place with the help of ancient symbols and rituals that are only known by Reiki teachers and masters. The energetic changes will be sealed so that individuals, who have received the initiations, <strong>will keep the power of Reiki for their whole life<\/strong>. Then they can use it everywhere! Reiki is not something new to learn, the person simply remembers the life force through the initiations. He can perceive again the energy that surrounds everything. It is important to say that <strong>the giver does not lose his own energy<\/strong> when he gives Reiki to someone else. Moreover, he will feel strengthened by the energy that flows through him. <strong>During a session it is impossible for both the giver and the receiver to absorb the other's own energy or personal problems<\/strong>. Reiki energy is more intelligent than we humans are, which means that it flows to where the body needs it. Reiki always adapts to the needs of the person receiving it. And every human being decides himself, on the level of his unconscious, how much energy and \"healing\" he wants and can absorb. Therefore, the giver cannot give an \"overdose\" and no negative manipulation is possible. The Reiki system sees the whole human being as the energy unites the levels of body, emotions, mind and soul naturally and gently into a harmonious relationship. The energy itself is neutral, meaning neither negative nor positive with a pure frequency.<\/p><h4>Reiki is an experience in 4 stages<\/h4><p>Through Reiki we can experience new things, because the energy enhances our consciousness. This can help the individual to develop positively and progressively in all facets of life. The energy generated is not directly measurable and cannot be understood directly with our mental structure. <strong>However, each person who receives Reiki will feel its benefits, as long as the person is open<\/strong>. Often people feel a warmth, a feeling of harmony and anyway a deep relaxation. Here is a charming quote from a German author: \"To experience Reiki deeply, you don't have to believe in this technique. You don't have to believe in the taste of a fruit to taste it, but you have to bite into it!<\/p><p>There are 3 degrees of Reiki :<\/p><ul><li>The 1st degree addresses the emotional and body levels.<\/li><li>The 2nd degree is for the mind and spirit level.<\/li><li>The 3rd degree is the master level.<\/li><li>The 4th degree is the teacher level.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-4541\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse4541\" aria-controls=\"collapse4541\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> History of Reiki<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse4541\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-454\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-4541\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><h4>The Japanese origins of Reiki<\/h4><p>Reiki was discovered by the Japanese Dr Mikao Usui (1865-1926) at the end of the 19th century. In recent years, many legends have circulated about his life story. His grave was found in Japan, where inscriptions indicate that Dr Usui was a Buddhist monk with great knowledge in medicine, theology and psychology.<\/p><p>During his travels to various countries, he learned the Sutras. These are Tibetan scriptures dating back more than 2500 years, written in an old Indian language: Sanskrit.<\/p><p>It is said that it is in these works that Dr Usui found indications on the methods and symbols of Reiki. But he did not know how to put them into practice.<\/p><h4>Dr Usui and the birth of Reiki<\/h4><p>One day, Dr Usui went to the sacred mount \"Kurama\" where he made a 21-day retreat of fasting and meditation. <strong>It was at the end of this period that he suddenly felt a great energy at the top of his head<\/strong>. After this experience, Reiki was flowing from his hands.<\/p><p>After using it on himself and then on his family, he shared this knowledge with the general public in Japan, and passed on Reiki to others.<\/p><h4>Reiki is bound by rules and principles<\/h4><p>It is said that Dr Usui worked in the beggar's slums in Kyoto where he treated and helped the beggars to lead a better life. One day he noticed that old faces were coming back. When he asked them why they had not yet started a new life, they said that working was too difficult and that it was easier to continue begging. Dr Usui was deeply shaken and saddened, and made him realise that he had forgotten something of great importance in his work: <strong>teaching gratitude<\/strong>.<\/p><p>So he wrote three rules of healing and five principles of life:<\/p><p><strong>3 Healing Rules<\/strong> :<\/p><ol><li>First heal the soul.<\/li><li>Then heal the body.<\/li><li>Beggars are ungrateful (don't take on the role of victim but take responsibility).<\/li><\/ol><p><strong>5 Principles of Life<\/strong> :<\/p><ul><li>Today don't get angry...<\/li><li>Today don't worry...<\/li><li>Express gratitude to others...<\/li><li>Work and earn your living honestly...<\/li><li>Today be grateful for the many benefits.<\/li><\/ul><h4>Reiki today<\/h4><p>Dr Usui taught this art of laying on of hands throughout his life and founded several Reiki clinics. He also founded the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai in Tokyo, which still exists today.<\/p><p>Reiki was exported from Japan in 1938 by Mrs Takata, a Japanese woman living in Hawaii, and then spread to the West. Today, Reiki is practiced all over the world.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-4542\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse4542\" aria-controls=\"collapse4542\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Conditions and precautions before a Reiki session<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse4542\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-454\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-4542\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p><strong>Duration<\/strong> : the time of the hand placement may vary according to the listening time needed before and after the session. The session includes <strong>about twenty hand positions of about 3 minutes each<\/strong>, for a total duration of between 1h and 1h30.<\/p><p><strong>Precautions<\/strong> : at Touch'Energy, it is important to note that in the event of significant pain or health problems, it is recommended that the recipient <strong>seek medical advice<\/strong> if this has not been done beforehand.<\/p><p><strong>Setting<\/strong> : the Reiki session takes place in a clean and airy setting that encourages relaxation, with soft, relaxing music. <strong>The receiver lies down on the massage table and remains clothed<\/strong>. However, it is recommended to remove belts, shoes, watches, jewellery, glasses, and other accessories that may interfere with comfort.<\/p><p><strong>Interview at the beginning of the session<\/strong> : the receiver is received by the practitioner who listens to him\/her in order to establish a climate of trust conducive to the success of the session. The practitioner explains the course of the session and provides verbal support through meditative listening. During this interview, the receiver explains the reasons that brought him to Reiki: context, expectations, objectives. This interview is crucial because <strong>it helps the practitioner to understand the problems of the receiver and where possible energetic and psychological blockages come from<\/strong>. It allows the practitioner to discuss these points and to bring the client to become aware of the energetic and psychological blocking mechanisms that prevail in him\/her.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ea-card sp-ea-single\"><h3 class=\"ea-header\"><a class=\"collapsed\" id=\"ea-header-4543\" role=\"button\" data-sptoggle=\"spcollapse\" data-sptarget=\"#collapse4543\" aria-controls=\"collapse4543\" href=\"#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\"><i aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"ea-expand-icon eap-icon-ea-expand-plus\"><\/i> Preparation and course of a Reiki session<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"sp-collapse spcollapse \" id=\"collapse4543\" data-parent=\"#sp-ea-454\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"ea-header-4543\"> <div class=\"ea-body\"><p><strong>Preparation before the Reiki session<\/strong> : just before the session, the practitioner washes his hands properly. He then enters a state of meditative calm and connects to the universal energy. In this way, the practitioner, who has learned to activate his or her energy centres, prepares mentally before the session. Before the session begins, the receiver closes his eyes to relax more.<\/p><p><strong>The Reiki session<\/strong> : no attitude or deep breathing is required to promote increased concentration, the receiver breathes normally and simply remains in the physical posture that is most comfortable for him\/her. The receiver keeps his eyes closed to remain relaxed, in order to welcome the energy as much as possible. <strong>The practitioner places his or her hands on or just above the recipient's body to become a channel for the transmission of energy<\/strong>. Sometimes the practitioner's hands do not touch the recipient's body during all or part of the session. Depending on the convenience of the receiver, the hands will not touch the body for the duration of the session. In fact, before the session begins, the recipient may indicate to the practitioner that he or she prefers not to be touched. <strong>The practitioner gently places his or her hands on or over about twenty specific points<\/strong>. He channels the energy which he then transmits through his hands on or slightly above the body. This gentle and very light contact between the hands and the different parts of the body lasts about 1 to 5 minutes for each specific point, depending on the practitioner's feeling. The practitioner listens sympathetically if necessary, and <strong>can detail the possible effects of Reiki: relaxation, detoxification, release, emotional unblocking, etc<\/strong>.
